The Small to Medium Sized Enterprise Awards aim to recognise the best in SMEs worldwide.

Run by an independent organisation which states it is without advertisers or sponsors, the SME Awards are free to enter.

Awards are given on a monthly basis with the best of these winners then selected for the annual award. To be considered for the annual award, entries must be submitted by 22nd December 2009.

The prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2010 aim to recognise great performance by UK companies with two or more employees.

There are three categories open for entry:

  • International Trade
  • Innovation
  • Sustainable Development

There is also a Royal Award for Individuals which is open to anyone who plays an exceptional role in developing and promoting enterprise in the UK.

Nominations must be submitted by 2pm on 30th October 2009 and the winners will announced on the 21st April 2010.

Winners will be invited to Buckingham Palace for a reception and should enjoy an increase in their media profile.

The Sunday Times and workplace engagement specialists Best Companies are on the lookout for the 100 best companies to work for in the UK.

The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For has three main categories, based around the size of companies competing.

The categories are:

  • Small companies: 50 – 249 employees
  • Mid-sized companies: 250 – 4,999 employees
  • Big companies: 5000+ employees

Best Companies compile a list of the best entrants which is published in The Sunday Times. Organisations who make these lists can expect a jump in media attention.

The survey of companies began in March 2009, and will be announced in March 2010. The charge for entering the process depends on the number of employees an organisation has.

Do you have the O2 X factor?

The O2 X Awards seek to recognise talented entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The awards highlight achievement by UK talent from any business sector employing one to 50 employees.

There are three categories available for entry:

  • O2 X Male Entrepreneur of the Year
  • O2 X Female Entrepreneur of the Year
  • O2 X Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Open to under 25s)

Once registered, entrants will be invited to one of a number of regional networking events and winners will each walk away with £5,000.

Submissions must be made by 1st August 2009, and entry is free.

The cost per entry varies depending on the status of your business. The standard rate is £140 + VAT but certain association members will be charged £125 + VAT, while charitable organisations will pay just £90 + VAT.
